How Fluff Sees It

When it comes to my personal philosophy, I immediately think of my religion. Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Pump the breaks there! Before you start to judge, let me break that down. Yes I’m religious but I just want to point out that, I’m not some crazy religious person that’s going to shove it down your throat and blah, blah, blah. That’s seriously not me. Man to be honest, I absolutely avoid people like that or just completely walk away.

Let me break it down here. I’m a semi-hardcore Buddhist. Semi-hardcore as in I come from a traditional family that emigrated to the US legally, that are still performing religious offerings for our ancestors and family members that have passed on. For those who don’t know, the religious offerings paper money, fruits, veggies, fish, meats, and white rice. Not brown, pink, multigrain, or anything fancy schmancy…just plain rice. Our belief is that once you’ve passed on. the generations after offer paper money and goodies so the spirits can survive and stay in a sense well off. It sounds intense, but we love our family and want to see them prosper in the afterlife. That’s just how my family’s tradition rolls.

In terms of prayer, i pray everyday. Sometimes multiple times because these are my personal conversations that I have between myself and the big dude upstairs. My dad has always believed that sometimes you don’t need to even say anything because God just knows what’s in your heart. It may sound crazy but it was something that was comforting growing up. Maybe its the introvert in me, but my faith has always been a comfort especially during those hard times and especially these crazy times.

There are so many interpretations that surround Buddhism. These are the 4 main Buddhist beliefs that i’ve lived and continue to live by:

  1. Accepting the good and bad that life gives, trust in YOU to make the right choices: Especially during the current situation we’re all facing, I feel that there’s a lot of hate and a lot of confusion. Yes, there are things happening but they are out of my control. It depends on myself and how I handle the situation at hand to keep myself at peace.
  2. Don’t be greedy: Be happy with what you have, there are others out there without.
  3. Live in the present: This one is super hard for me. I compare my past self with my present self and worry that I’m not aggressive when it comes to my endeavors at the moment.
  4. Be Kind: Trust me on this, it’s so hard for me especially with the jerks in the world. It’s a struggle but I always try my best to take the high road.

I’ve always looked at things as either there is a lesson to be learned or a blessing to be humbled about. In addition to my religion music is also the rhythm that runs through my veins. That’s going to be a separate post.

With that the words of Big Sean “Blessings on blessings on blessings, look at my life man, that’s lessons on lessons on lessons. I treat the beat like it’s a reverend, I tell the truth like father, forgive me, these are all my confessions”

My Name is Fluffy. Research is my Bestie. Food is my passion. Art is my heart, Creation is my hands. Let's talk!
